EasySkyMesh Firmware Releases

Every PowerSaving release from IoTThinks, newest first: which build to run, what changed in each, and what the release notes warn about.

Release list last checked against GitHub on October 23, 2026.

What to Run Now

Our advice: Run 17.1 on deployed repeaters. PowerSaving 18 is a beta built on MeshCore 1.18, and the project says not to use it for deployments yet. Power saving stays off until you run powersaving on, so check your settings after flashing. What PowerSaving 17 changed.

What EasySkyMesh Is

EasySkyMesh is community firmware from IoTThinks, built on MeshCore. Its PowerSaving builds cut a repeater's idle draw to a few milliamps, and recent ones go below 1 mA on some boards, which is what makes small solar repeaters practical. Our EasySkyMesh explainer covers how it works.

It isn't official MeshCore firmware. You download each build from the project's GitHub release and flash it as custom firmware, following the EasySkyMesh flashing instructions. Each release lists the boards it was built for; a new number doesn't always include every board.

Release numbers roughly follow MeshCore's but not exactly (PowerSaving 17 was built on MeshCore 1.16), so check the MeshCore version shown on each release below. Read the notes before upgrading a repeater that's hard to reach: some releases change defaults or ask you to re-check settings afterward. NodakMesh isn't affiliated with EasySkyMesh or IoTThinks.

All Releases

  1. PowerSaving 18 MeshCore 1.18 Beta

Beta for testing, built on MeshCore 1.18; the project says not to deploy it yet. New installs default to power saving on, FEM receive gain off and RX power saving on balanced. More features and testing are still to come, including checks on RAK 1 W transmit power and FEM power-off on the Heltec V4.3.

  2. PowerSaving 17.1 MeshCore 1.17.1 Release

Built on MeshCore 1.17.1 for long trips and winter conditions. Adds battery voltage and power saving status to repeater screens and a dark theme for the Heltec T096. Every power saving feature is off until you turn it on.

  3. PowerSaving 17 MeshCore 1.16 Release

RX sleep (radio.rxps) brings RAK4631 repeaters down to about 0.9 mA. Built on MeshCore 1.16, with GPS power saving carried forward.

    PowerSaving 17 notes Release notes

  4. PowerSaving 16.1 Release

Adds GPS power saving, so repeaters and companions with GPS can sync time while drawing about the same as a GPS-free build. Point releases through July added the T1000-E, RAK and GAT562, T-Beam, Heltec Mesh Solar and Tracker. Not supported on the Mesh Adventurer or ThinkNode M1.

  5. PowerSaving 16 Release

BLE companions power off at about 16 µA, and the Heltec T096 repeater runs at 8.7 mA with FEM off. After upgrading a repeater, check flood.max, flood.max.unscoped and radio.fem.rxgain, which the notes say need setting again. A point release reported the Wio Tracker L1 companion drawing 35 mA instead of 7.5 mA.

  6. PowerSaving 15 MeshCore 1.15 Release

Power saving for ESP32 BLE companions (15 to 20 mA) and no clock drift on repeaters, built on MeshCore 1.15, with a hotfix on May 4.

  7. PowerSaving 14.1 MeshCore 1.14.1 Release

Heltec V4.3 at 5.5 mA idle, a FEM LNA toggle for 1 W boards, a powerlog command and nRF52 companions down to 5.8 mA.

  8. PowerSaving 14 MeshCore 1.14 Release

Brings power saving to room servers and nRF52 companions (about 5.8 mA), built on MeshCore 1.14. Adds a sensor command and keeps the date after a crash or brownout on ESP32.

  9. PowerSaving 13.1 MeshCore 1.13 Beta

Beta on MeshCore 1.13 with two fixes: an AGC reset fix for a noise floor stuck at -120, and keeping the date after a crash on ESP32.

    Release notes

  10. PowerSaving 13 MeshCore 1.13 Release

Power saving for every ESP32 repeater (sleep two minutes after boot, wake on LoRa packets), less clock drift, more sensor support, and a lower nRF52 boot-voltage lock of 1.8 V for non-LiPo batteries. Built on MeshCore 1.13.

    Release notes

  11. PowerSaving 11 Release

About 6 mA for nRF52 repeaters and 10 mA for ESP32 repeaters. Run powersaving on once; it takes effect two minutes after boot.

    Release notes

  12. PowerSaving 10 Release

About 10 mA for every ESP32 repeater.

EasySkyMesh FAQ

What is the latest EasySkyMesh firmware?

The latest release is PowerSaving 17.1 (August 15, 2026). PowerSaving 18, from October 22, 2026, is a beta for testing.

Is EasySkyMesh official MeshCore firmware?

No. It is community firmware from IoTThinks, built on MeshCore with extra power saving. Some of that work goes back into MeshCore itself: IoTThinks' power saving for ESP32 repeaters was merged in June 2026 and shipped in MeshCore 1.16.

How do I turn power saving on?

Run powersaving on in the repeater's command line. The setting stays on across reboots. In 17.1 it is off until you turn it on; the PowerSaving 18 beta turns it on by default for new installs.

How do I flash it?

Download the build for your board from the project's GitHub release, then follow the EasySkyMesh flashing instructions: an upgrade file for a node that already runs MeshCore, or a fresh-install file for a new one.
